Embark on your very first venture into the mesmerizing world of dichroic glass. In this intermediate session, you will learn to manipulate this highly reflective, space-age material to spin a breathtaking, miniature galaxy of sparkling stars trapped inside a solid glass orb. You will elevate your torch control by mastering the delicate art of melting dichroic coatings smoothly without burning away their brilliant, color-shifting luster.

(Please note: This is an intermediate-level course. Students must have completed the beginner marble class or have foundational torch experience to register.)

• • Dichroic Heat Management: Master the precise flame chemistry and distance needed to liquefy dichroic glass without scorching or degrading its metallic sparkle.
  • The Cosmic Twist: Learn specialized manipulation techniques to spin and spiral reflective glass layers into a deep, expanding galaxy effect.
  • Volumetric Spherical Encapsulation: Refine your marble-molding skills to back and encase your cosmic patterns inside an optically clear lens of solid glass.
  • Thermal Stress Minimization: Understand how to evenly heat a dense, mixed-medium sphere to prevent internal fractures during the shaping process.

Session Duration & Kiln Annealing

• • Duration: Sessions run approximately 1.5 hours per person, depending on individual artistic pace and group dynamics.
  • Controlled Kiln Cooling: Because these marbles are dense and utilize complex layered glass, they require a 24-hour controlled cooling cycle in our kiln to ensure durability. Your masterpiece will be ready for studio pickup the next day, or it can be delivered/shipped directly to your door.

Intermediate sessions run Wednesday through Saturday during the following blocks:
9:30 AM | 11:00 AM | 12:30 PM | 2:00 PM (On select days)
