The Secerts of the Vortex Marble Workshop
Plunge into the optical illusion of infinite depth with our highly exclusive, immersive Vortex Marble Masterclass. Hosted on a select Sunday, this intensive studio experience transitions you from standard shapes into the mesmerizing realm of complex interior geometry.
Under the direct, master mentorship of artist Greg LeFrancis, you will discover the secrets of creating a striking internal vortex. You will learn to spin fine lines of vibrant glass and space-age dichroic elements into a deep, twisting cyclone that appears to stretch endlessly into the core of a solid glass sphere.
(Please note: This is an intermediate-level course. Students must have completed the beginner marble class or have foundational torch experience to attend.)
What You Will Master

- The Vortex Core Twist: Master the specific heating and directional twisting techniques used to extend a flawless, cone-shaped spiral.
- Multi-Medium Layering: Explore how to combine vibrant colored lines with brilliant, color-shifting dichroic glass without burning or clouding the materials.
- Optical Lens Manipulation: Learn the process of melting the rod into a thick lens, creating a magnifying effect that enhances the marble’s interior depth.
- Backing the Marble: Master the delicate art of layering glass to the marble’s back to encase your vortex spiral without distorting the spiral.
- Advanced Spherical Geometry: Refine your use of marble molds and flame-polishing to achieve a perfectly balanced, optically pure sphere.
Workshop Details & Logistics

- Exclusive Capacity: This intensive session is strictly limited to 6 students to guarantee ample one-on-one time at the torch with Greg.
- Duration: A comprehensive 3.5-hour workshop running from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM on a designated Sunday.
- All-Inclusive Access: Your tuition completely covers all premium colored glass, dichroic materials, fuel, and studio tool rentals.
(Artisan note: You are highly encouraged to bring along your personal favorite hand tools to use during the workshop but not necessary!)

This will be a 3.5 hour class – 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Limited to 6 Students.
Cancellation Policy
ALL CANCELLATIONS MUST BE GIVEN IN WRITING VIA EMAIL.
Cancellations received 10 days prior to the workshop will be refunded 65% of the workshop fee.
If cancellation is received less than 10 days prior to the workshop you will forfeit your entire workshop fee.
If, in extreme cases, you are unable to attend your workshop on the date booked, we will try to accommodate you on another date, but are unable to guarantee rescheduling. In this instance only 50% of your workshop fee will be refunded if the course cannot be rescheduled to another date.
The studio reserves the right to cancel a workshop or class for any reason and will try to give as much notice as possible.
In the event this happens, we will offer you an alternative date at which to attend. If you do not wish to accept the alternate date, a full refund will be given. LeFrancis Studios cannot accept liability for consequential loss, such as accommodation or travel etc. costs in the case of cancellation.
